Cycle Ti Thunder

I am bringing in the new year with my first bike ride in three months.  I went to my doctor for a checkup and I received permission to return to work and ride my bike.  I will not be doing any epic cycling events anytime soon and I promised my doctor to take it easy.  My next appointment is in 6 weeks to check my progress. I rode around the neighborhood with my neighbors Alan and Rachelle Bitterman.  We wanted to see what the neighborhood looked like in the aftermath of the intense storm that hit the area Monday evening.  Here is a link to the Albany Herald for more storm information. I have been thinking of this sign for some time. I want to get it onto the roads here in Albany, GA.

 This 101 mile ride has been on my list for a few years.  Anytime that I can ride across a state line I get so excited. I was riding with my good friends Richard and Sharon Thompson.  I rarely have pictures taken of me during a ride, but Richard took this picture of me standing next to a large oak tree.  Oak trees this large are common in this part of the country.  I sometimes try to imagine what was going on in the area 100 years ago when a tree was a sapling. I made another long ride into the state of Florida May 23, 2015. My wife +Sylvia Wormley   wanted to visit the Wakulla Springs State Park. We play this game where she picks out a destination that she wants to visit, and i ride my bike there and then we hang out and relax. As usual I could not stop and take all of the pictures that I wanted to, but here are the photos from the ride. Tractor on GA HWY 37  I like riding my bike down roads where there are farms.  When I get a chance to stop and take a picture of a tractor I do it.  I have never seen a tractor of this type.  I will have to research it to see what it is used for. This evening 12 cyclist met at the Doublegate parking lot to participate in a Slow Roll .  It was the first time that my vision of cyclist riding bikes just to be social came to life in Albany, GA.  I am glad Sharon Thomson actually took the Slow roll idea and organized the ride. We took a route up through Calloway Lakes and wound up at Los Vaqueros Mexican Restaurant. Everyone on the ride had fun.  I am sure that we will do another Slow Roll again.

Tonight I rode on the  Cycle World Tuesday Night Fun Ride.  This is a ride that is no drop and geared for a relaxing evening ride with friends in the country.  Tonight I decided to do what I have seen +Kent Wheeler do and take pictures of the cyclist in the group.  The evening light was just gorgeous as we rode down Flowing Well Road.

I am always excited when the days get longer.  When daylight savings starts I know it is the time to start riding my longer routes when I bike commute.  Yesterday evening I took my route on Mud Creek Road.  Taking this route adds about seven miles to my ride home. I stopped to take a phone call from my wife because my Garmin tracking had stopped and she was wondering what happened.  After I restarted it I decided to take some pictures of Leary Road.  Normally I do not stop on this road to take pictures.  I am going to be taking more pictures of my world in the future.  One of the main reasons that I ride my bike is to enjoy being outdoors.  When I stop to take pictures, I take time to enjoy the moment of not moving and I actually notice how beautiful the world is. Tonight I have a mountain bike train meeting.  I rode from Albany State in a loop to Chehaw Park.  It is not too warm and not too cool, just beautiful.  First evening ride during daylight saving time.  I wonder if I will be alive when they end daylight savings time in the United States.
