Pecan City Pedalers Nut Roll 2014

Image
Yet another bike event that I helped out as a volunteer.  My cycling club, The Pecan City Pedalers , sponsor this ride each year.  The rides stars and ends in the beautiful  Parks at Chehaw in Albany, Georgia. I also did the T-Shirt artwork for this ride. Here is an Auto Awesome from Google Google Does it again.  I am so amazed at how Google grabs data and re-imagines it.  This is so cool, taking what I consider "poor" content and mashing it up into something that is presentable.  This captures the start of the 2014 Nut roll in Albany, GA It was a wonderful day to be out supporting the activity of cycling.  This was my second year working on the event and I always have fun. I also had fun reworking the Nut Man logo. The original Nut Man The new and improved Nut Man

Today I am going to do another ride south to the coast.  I will stop at Whataburger in Thomasville, GA before heading to Tallahassee, FL. I will add pictures along the way. My planned course. Here is my ride report. Winds were the training feature for the day. The closer I got to the Gulf of Mexico the stronger they got. Weather Channel had winds at 14 MPH, gusting to 17 MPH.  I was surprised to find that the largest hills on the ride were in south Tallahassee.  I was not in a hurry as I wanted to ride for the distance and not for the time. I took a few pictures. Flint River at the GA 37 over crossing east of Newton, GA More Pine Crest Country Club 2415 Old Georgia 3, Pelham, GA 31779 Me and my bike. BRAG fall ride with hills and head winds

This century ride was like no other in that I did not have the complete belief that I was prepared physically to ride 100 miles. My last 60 mile ride a few weeks ago saw me black out in my wife's presence one hour after the ride. I felt fine after the ride, but after sitting in the recliner for an hour after my shower I tried to stand up and got intense leg cramps. When I finally stood up I got dizzy and sat back down. My wife told me later that I had blacked out and my body was shaking. I have never experienced this after any sort of exercise activity. My my doctor's test and wife believes I have a deficiency in manganese. I believe that I can not ride with the 40 somethings at 20+ MPH for 30 miles and then ride another 30 miles st my normal 16 MPH pace. My wife has been feeding me mineral rich foods including bone marrow soup with green leafy stuff like kale.   She has also been stuffing a few vitamin supplements in my mouth every evening.   All in all I have renew...
