National Bike Challenge 2015

My second National Bike Challenge (NBC) is in the books so to speak.  Just like my first NBC, I had a blast, but I faced some physical challenges during the event.  This year I had a sever callous on my left toe that affected my position on my bike.  Eventually I resolved the issue.  Then during the last month of September i injured my left knee doing some chores and I had to miss a week of cycling. Anyway I rode more miles than I did in 2013 which was my last time that I was actively in the NBC.  In 2014 I only rode the first three months due to my being hit by a car in March. I have some screen shots of the web site showing my statics below.  I rode 5,674 miles in 126 out of 152 days of the challenge.  The NBC ran from May 1, through September 30.

Well looks like I have been locked out of the National Bike Challenge web site.  I hope that the website developers are fixing the bug that I uncovered when I switched from using the Endomondo App to log my miles to using Strava.  When I switched the website allowed Strava to add duplicate log entries for all months in the challenge. I reported the error on the forums, so hopefully they are fixing it.  For now I am toast.

I earned my Platinum Badge on June 11, 1015 by earning 2,500 points int the  National Bike Challenge . Below are some information graphics showing progress thus far int eh challenge. the goal of this challenge it to promote bicycling during the best season of the year.  time to get out thee and ride your bike. For me the challenge is allowing me to hold fast to my goal of cycling everyday and building up my endurance for the long 100+ mile rides that I enjoy so much.  There are some heavy hitters in this challenge.  Some folks are riding 80 to 100 miles or more a day.  I am setting a goal of riding at least 1,000 miles a month and still maintain a happy wife and a happy life. The statics do not show it, but most of my miles that I ride my bicycle are commuting back and forth to work. I average 25 to 33 miles each way between my work place and my home.  This is the time of year that I really enjoy riding my bike.  The days are long and the weat...

Pecan City Pedalers 2013 National Bike Challenge celebration ride

Image
I had an enjoyable ride with the Pecan City Pedalers this morning.  I did not want to ride fast, but the lure of riding with friends and the sound of 14 tires on a country road allowed me to keep up with the group for most of the ride.  It was a beautiful fall day in SW Georgia, the winds were slight and the sun was not too hot.  A good time was had by all. We were celebrating the fact that our team, the Pecan City Pedalers Wing nuts came in first place for the state of Georgia in the National Bike Challenge.  I came in 10th place for the state and 737th nationally.  I was injured for August and September so I did not get the miles in that I wanted.  Next year I will do better.
