Last night for my evening ride I decided to do my old bike commute to the Albany State Radium Springs campus. I rode this route for several years when I worked there. Now I work on the Albany State Gillonville campus, The Albany State Radium Springs campus commute route that I love is 25 miles. The Albany State Radium Springs campus direct commute is about 8 miles. The Albany State Gillonville campus direct commute is 4.68 miles. Today was the first time I used my GoPro Hero4 Black on my bike.  I have a temporary mount set up on my head tube. I am still waiting for the beefier Ram Mount to arrive in the mail.  I wanted to show how well my Busch & Müller Luxos U IQ2 lighting system performed on dark country roads.  I also wanted to see how the Hero4 worked with default settings in the dark.  Pictures for your enjoyment are below. This is my bike.  I took my first ride on it 12/2/2014. To date I have 838.83 miles on the bike.  I did not ride a road bike from March 2014 until December 2014 due to a kiss with a car. The more miles I put on this bike the more I like it.  This is the first bike I have owned with a compact crank and compact bars.  As with all seven Cycles, this is a custom bike.  I have toe torso of a man 5' 3" and the legs of a man 6' 1".  My last bike was a custom Serotta. The improvements on this bike are the titanium lugs and chain stays and carbon tubing.  The bike is light and fast while absorbing road noise.  The bike has Shimano Ultegra components with disc brakes.  Front hub has a dynamo and wheels are Belgium.  I will get around to more component details later. Version 1.0 Version 2.0 I was not pleased with the height of the head light.  I still have several brackets on my shopping list, but I still want to try positions with the parts I have.  I changed the angle of the bracket to lower the head light.   I like this position because it will allow me to put a small bag on my bars.  In this new position the light will be in front of the bag.

Today was my first ride to work on my bicycle using my new Busch & Müller Luxos U IQ2 lighting system described in a previous blog posting . It is rare that I am overwhelmed by a product that I purchase.  To say that my expectations were exceeded by this head light would be an understatement. I am use to riding down two lane roads in darkness where the only light is on my bike.  My battery powered Niterider Pro 1800 is a great light for cycling, but when I run it at 1800 lumens the battery life is only 1.5 hours.  most of the time I ride with it at 700 lumens and the battery life is 4 hours.  I bought an extra charger so that I could leave one at work and charge it when I arrive after my morning commute so that I will have enough battery life for my ride home.  My normal commute is 25 miles one way which takes about 1.5 hours.
