Lonnie is tolerating sweat and gnats in front of Beggars Bush Plantation on Mud Creek Road Once again I really wanted to get on my Seven and ride out in the country.  I drove my truck to work today because of a meeting, so I did not bike commute to work.  When I got home I was wanting to get out on my bike. I am really proud of my time on split number three which started at Leary Road and 8 Mile Road.  I always like sprinting up this road during the last segment of my ride.  I averaged 17.5 MPH on 8 Mile road, which is the fastest riding that I have done since my hip replacement.  It felt good to just ride full out and not worry about hurting.

I am getting use to riding my road bike again, and it feels great to get our on the country roads again.  This evening there was a slight wind from the east and south east.  It was just enough to keep it cool and to add some resistance as I made my way down Leary Road.  This was the first time in a long while that I rode down Mud Creek Road.  This the longest ride of the year for me so far. I am having better luck making videos with my GoPro camera.  Here is a video of my bike commute along a part of Mud Creek Road.  Mud Creek Road is one of my favorite county road bike commute routes. Well I got a title on the video this time. I really want to share the beauty of bike commuting near my home. Although I loved the challenges of riding in traffic, at this point in my life I hate traffic lights on a bike and in a motor vehicle. This 33 mile ride has three traffic lights on it. Two withing three miles of the start and one two miles from the finish. Sometimes I get lucky and make them all without stopping . Tonight I had near perfect weather on my ride home this evening.  I was happy to discover that there was no rain predicted in the forecast so I decided to take Mud Creek ride home.  I love overcast skis because there are no hard shadows in the landscape so photographs have amazing color saturation. The air temperature was between 72 and 66 degrees with a slight cross wind that took some of the humidity away from my skin. I started my evening ride by practicing my cycle photography skills. The only thing wrong with this shot is that I do not have the rear derailleur in the small cog. Crank arm is aligned with the seat tube.  Valve stems are behind the frame. Riding down Mud Creek Road this evening was a joy.  One of the highlights of this road is the Beggars Bush property.  There are usually some nice horses in the pasture, but when I see them I rarely take time to stop and take a picture.  This evening I did stop to get a shot of the main entrance to the property. For you Rolling Stones fans this property always reminds me of my favorite Stones album, Beggars Banquet.  I would love to have a cycling event where we ride to this property and have a picnic in the pasture.  I would call it The Beggars Banquet.
