Fall is at my doorstep

Image
I knew it was fall when I stepped out this morning at 5:12 AM and my arms and legs shivered.  For about a minute I contemplated going back into the house and getting my arm warmers.  I decided to proceed with the morning commute without them.  I decided to ride to the last street where I could easily return to the house without too much back tracking and see if I really needed the arm warmers. Usually it takes about 20 minutes for my body to get warmed up and ready to feel like riding in the morning. This is about five miles from home.  I decided to stop at the intersection of Eight Mile road and Leary Road, Pretoria on the map, and take a picture of the temperature for the record.  I was surprised to see that it was below 50 degrees.  Anyway I completed the commute in comfort, but if it gets any colder I will want my arm warmers and maybe long fingered gloves.

Labor Day Ride to Sasser

This morningI had fun riding my bike to Sasser, GA with some of my friends.  It was a wonderful ride and I enjoyed riding down country roads taking the full lane and talking at ease.

The Cobbles of Baconton

For the second day in a row I took my bike commute down south of Albany to the town of Newton.  the route from Newton to Albany goes through the town of Baconton  via the historic Dixie Highway, old Georgia State Route 3.   The Dixie highway between Camilla, GA and the Albany City limits is some of the bumpiest road that I know of.  I have nicknamed it the Cobbles of Baconton.  I love riding on the Dixie Highway because it is so low traffic and scenic, but the bumps sometimes really get to me.  Well this week I decided to disappear my dislike for the bumps by riding it more than once. I am always in training so riding the Cobbles of Baconton will prepare me for longer rides and help me to comply with Velominati rule number 5 . It is a rare occasion that I am number one in the standings, but as of 9/1/2015 at 11:40 AM I am in first place.  I am sure as other rides post their mileage I will fall out of this spot, but for now I am enjoying it. ...

Florida Short Route Terrell County Road 120

Today I took another ride on the newly paved Florida Short Route Terrell County Road 120.  After riding so many commuter miles in the dark of early morning it is refreshing to ride slowly in the daylight.  This evening's ride gave me a temperature range in the low 80's and the sun was low in the sky so the northerly route was shaded by tall pine trees.

This is what I like about living in southwest Georgia. Every once in awhile you get on a smooth road on a beautiful evening and it is just wonderful.

Sasser

Beautiful downtown Sasser. 77 degrees overcast a nice breeze what a wonderful ride. Tallahassee Road is now on my best Rhodes to ride list. Tallahassee Road has nice pavement from the little small bridge all the way up to the main highway.

I am so glad that the road to faster is finally repaved. This is such a nice country road and it used to be so bumpy starting from this bridge going up to faster. Now it is smooth as butter.,
